| (As Olu progresses in the school,jide and the other boys continue in their degenerating attitude of unleashing terrors on the innocent people in the village,destroying their farms and occasionally their priced possessions.) |
| OLU(sitting quietly,opens one of his subject books and becomes engrossed in it). |

| SOLA(a classmate,calls out to Olu).Olu! I see you are totally absorbed in your reading.I had wanted to come over to have some chats with you,but i saw that you were very engrossed in your study.My name is sola,what is your name? |

| OLU(looks slightly towards her,answers.).I am Olu! But i suppose you should have known my name.Weren't you in the class yesterday when i was telling my tales of woes to the whole class? Then,i told the whole class and the mathematics teacher how i had spent my life in the past and made resolution now to make myself a success. |

| SOLA(feigns absence from the class,answers in the affirmative).Yes! I wasn't in the class when you told the story.I just want to................ |

| TITI(cuts in all of a sudden).Sola,I was in the class when he told his story.I strongly feel that i am going to benefit a lot from it. In fact i was already nursing some new ideas,bad ideas you know and think of how to carry them out.But now they are dead with me.I have started to think of plans that would better my lots in the nearest future.I would.............. |

| MATHEMATICS TEACHER(looking in all directions as he enters the classroom,and notices their surreptitious moves,speaks).Good Morning,students! i could see many of you want to familiarize yourselves with Olu.He has learnt his lessons and wanted to change for the better.Mathematics is the most dreaded subject by the students,but i hope Olu wouldn't join them.The topic for today is ALGEBRA(he writes this on the chalkboard and teaches for 20 minutes and then starts asking questions).Now, I have a number of questions to ask you on this topic.I want to see how you have understood what i have taught you so far.The first question goes to Sola.Simplify this expression:ax+bx |

| MATHEMATICS TEACHER(unveiling his lack of confidence in Olu,calls him).Olu,it is your turn to simplify the expression. |

| OLU(standing up with confidence and courage,pronounced the simplified answer).The answer is x into bracket A+B. |

| MATHEMATICS TEACHER(extremely surprise by the answer given by Olu,asks the whole class to give him a standing ovation).That is correct and accurate! Would you give him a loud round of applaud!?(Immediately he says this,the whole students stand up and give him a roar of applaud which rents the air for a couple of minutes,and he continues.)This is brillant.How on earth do you students who have been with me for sometime now could not answer that simplification problem? It is pathetic and heartbreaking to discover this.Anyway,Olu,keep that up .Don't relent on your efforts for now,continue to improve on the subject.It is high time we called it a day.(The closing bell rings simultaneously as he is making his last sentence,while the students disperse.Sola and Titi go home together for they are best of friends and discuss Olu as they go.) |

| SOLA(breaking the silence ).Titi,didn't you see how brillant Olu is? This,he has rightly demostrated in the class by the manner he solved the expression.This situation confirms his tales that he was a very brillant student until he joined bad peer groups. |

| TITI(reflecting on the situation).Sola,we were a bunch of disgraces to our mathematic teacher.He was expecting us to give an answer to the expression,but we failed. Olu manifested that he knows the subject.He must be a very brillant boy as he claimed.(As they look ahead of them,they see Olu in the distance exchanging heated words with Jide while the boys look on). |
| JIDE(seeing Olu in school uniform,couldn't hide his surprise,and immediately vents his anger on him).You,Olu,return back to school.You,son of a bitch and a bastard.Do you think you can leave us like that without having a scar of remembrance for your action.We boys are determined to deal with you. |

| OLU(cannot understand Jide's reasons for confrontations).Jide,I hope you are not out of your senses,because i cannot understand the reasons for this length of abuses and causes.Are you the one sending me to school? Do you pay my school fees for me to deserve these abuses? Please tell me! I want to......(He was bound on by the boys with Jide and beaten to a state of coma and left to regain consciousness by himself without help from anybody). |
