| (As the light of dawn throws itself in,the students of Ake secondary school have started to trip in by the minutes. Some wear cheerful faces and enthusiastic that the examination would be taking place while some others are gripped with the fear of the impending examination and look like chickens that have inadventently fallen in water.As a mixture of happiness and sorrow is exhibited among the students, the bell to call to morning devotion is rung.) |
| PRINCIPAL(mounting the rostrum,speaks to the students).Good morning,students! I believe that you are all aware that the examination starts today.You are supposed to be very happy each time you are to write examinations. Examinations are designed for man to be passed and not to fail. As i look into you faces i see that some of you are filled with sorrows because of this examination.Anyway,some are cheerful and brighter. You are all supposed to be cheerful and brighter for this examination. As you dispersed into your respective classes for this examination,i wish all of you a brillant success in your endeavour in the examination.Good day!(After these few words from the principal,the students disperse into their classes and start doing things in accordance with their wishes and aspirations) |

| OLU(immediately finds his chair and desk,sits down to read the subject book for the day's examinations).I want to really surprise the teachers as well as the students(speaking to himself). I must make sure that i study between the lines and understand everything before the bell for the commencement of the examination is rung. |

| SOLA(having sat quietly over her book,calls over to Olu).Hi,Olu! How prepared are you,Olu? I just want the examinations to come and go.I have read my eyes out with little or nothing to show for it. I just pray to God that questions should come on areas i have read and well-understood. I now rest my hope on God. Hoping for the best. |

| SUPERVISORY TEACHER(clutching lazily to a pack of questions and answer papers,waves the class to attention).Good morning,students! Today marks the beginning of the long-awaited examinations. For weeks now it has been drummed into your ears by your different teachers that the examination is some days away. Here we are today--the d-day. I have a strong conviction and believe that every student has prepared throughly for the examinations. I know that every student knows me as a displinarian and now i want to drum it into your ears that i would not condone indiscipline in the course of this examination. I believe you all understand what i mean by indiscipline.It includes malpratises during the examination. Any student caught in the act in the course of the examination would regret having been born. These are your questions papers.They are intact and cellophane.(He starts distributing the questions as well as the answer papers to the students,and seeing that every student has got his or her question and answer papers,he gives a start order. Immediately the class atmosphere is rented with silence) |
